Tutor Policy

1. Be professional and act with integrity: Missing more than 4 sessions without prior communication or adhering to our cancellation policy; ignoring emails or messages; rudeness to either our staff or scholars; complaints about poor quality tutoring and/or consistently low tutor scores will lead to a formal review of your account and may include cancellation.

2. Do not engage in academic misconduct: Tutors cannot complete work for scholars, nor should they help with exams or assignments where guidance is given that scholars must complete it by themselves. We trust tutors to determine what constitutes unethical help but have a zero-tolerance policy towards anyone found to be engaging in it.

3. Do not exchange private details with scholars: The system is designed to offer safeguarding and privacy for both tutors and scholars and certain professional indemnities for tutors. It has everything built in for communications; including direct messages and emails for support, ticketing system and video calls. We understand that legitimate circumstances arise where you need to contact our support team urgently (tech failures, emergencies etc) but in this case just contact us via the help scout button and we will help.

4. Do not solicit private arrangements: Everything is recorded centrally on Merithub and if we suspect that you are trying to solicit scholars, and we find you to be doing so, we reserve the right to suspend your account and seek remediation. If you are unhappy for any reason, please come talk to us.

In short, we only allow the best and most experienced tutors to work on Tutorgigs and expect professionalism and honesty from them at all times. By upholding these rules, Tutorgigs is viable for everyone.

Tutors who do not uphold these rules will at the first instance be blocked from the jobs board and prevented from taking on new scholars pending a formal review of their account and activities.

Serious breaches will result in suspension of your account on Tutorgigs and any of our partner companies, the reassignment of your scholars and we could even seek damages in extreme cases.
